This special feast honors the birth of St. John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ, whose mission was to prepare the way for the Lord. His birth, foretold by the angel Gabriel, marked a key moment in salvation history. The Church celebrates only three nativities—those of Jesus, Mary, and John the Baptist—highlighting the unique role St. John played in God’s plan.
